The Kern County 457 Deferred Compensation Plan is a tool to help you save and invest additional monies for the purposes of retirement. This Section 457 plan (administered through the County of Kern by Great-West Life) allows employees to contribute on a pre-tax basis to an account which can be invested in any combination of approximately twenty funds. Normal contributions are limited to $17,500 per year (in 2014). The tax savings and minimal fees allow for a sound retirement supplement.
