4/03/07 Law Week 2007:   Kern County Superior Court and partner agencies offer community forums, programs and workshops to learn more about the courts and the criminal justice system. This year's theme is "Youth and the Law." The public is welcome to attend any event, free of charge. Students – inquire about the possibility of extra credit for attending Law Week events.

2/09/07 Michael Gutstein appointed Kern's new Court Commissioner

1/26/07 Superior Court of California, County of Kern, has a new Judge.   The Hon. Cory L. Woodward, who was serving as our Court Commissioner in the East Division, was sworn in as Kern's new judge today.

12/22/06 SUPERIOR COURT COMMISSIONER: The Superior Court of California, County of Kern, is seeking a highly competent individual to serve as a Court Commissioner. The Court Commissioner shall serve at the pleasure of the Judges of the Superior Court and will be assigned to any department or program as required by the Presiding Judge. Primary assignment will be in East Kern but may travel to any of ten county court locations. Minimum Qualifications: Active member in good standing of the California Bar for a period of at least ten (10) years prior to appointment. Recommended Qualifications: Proven experience in family law, criminal and civil matters with knowledge of trial and hearing procedures. Experience as hearing officer, judge pro-tem or mediator. This new section will be accessible through the General Info link at the top of each page. Vendors can review open Requests for Proposal/Quote (RFP/RFQ), Purchase Order Terms and Conditions, and by selecting the ‘Add Me to Your Vendor List’, you can provide information to our Purchasing Staff that will enable us to add you to our growing vendor lists.

Please do not provide this type of information to anyone claiming to be associated with the courts. Please contact Jury Services immediately if you receive this type of request.

6/23/05 New Clerical Operations Hours
Beginning the week of July 5, 2005, all Kern County Superior Court Clerical service windows and telephones will close at 4:00 PM on Thursdays. Drop Boxes will be available for customers to file court documents or payments after 4:00 PM. All documents deposited in the Drop Boxes will be date stamped appropriately. These operating hours are not applicable to courtrooms.

5/24/05 Selected Filing Fees go up on June 1, 2005.

2/28/05 Senate Bill 58 protects privacy of victims and witnesses on police reports, arrest reports, or investigative reports submitted to a court by a prosecutor in support of a criminal complaint, indictment, or information, or by a prosecutor or law enforcement officer in support of a search warrant or an arrest warrant.
