Temporary Judges
Attorneys who wish to serve as Temporary Judges in the Superior Court of California must meet certain specifications, which are outlined in the CRC 2.812 (opens new window). To summarize:
  1. They must be an attorney in good standing with the State Bar of California and meet the other general conditions outlined in CRC 2.812

  2. They must complete the online fill-in Application for Temporary Judges and submit it to:

  4. They must complete the training requirements outlined in the CRC 2.812. The Education Division (opens new window) of the Administrative Office of the Courts has developed online training that will meet a portion of the requirements.

    Live Bench Conduct and Demeanor course
    A Temporary Judge Live Bench Conduct and Demeanor course is now scheduled for Tuesday, May 20, 2008, at 5:45 p.m. Please complete the registration form and return to Kern County Superior Court prior to May 13, 2008.
    This training is required for attorneys applying for the Temporary Judge Program with Kern County Superior Court. Current Temporary Judges are required to attend this course every three years.

    New Online Small Claims Course
    A new self-study Small Claims Court course: Consumer and Substantive Laws, is now available online (opens new window). This course, along with the Small Claims Court Procedure course, may be used by judges or temporary judges hearing small claims cases to help satisfy their training expectations or requirements.
