Overview
|
Parties involved in a court case may get copies of transcripts associated with a given case.
The cost of the transcript varies and will be provided to you as soon as your request has been received and reviewed. The party requesting the transcript will be responsible for payment and may be required to prepay the cost of the transcript or submit a deposit prior to its preparation.
Cases may be reported by a Court Reporter or via Electronic Recording (ER).
- Cases reported by a Court Reporter: Although it is customary for a Court Reporter to record everything that is said on record during a court hearing, the Court Reporter does not transcribe the record until he/she is required to do so either by court order or upon request by any given party. Transcripts ordered for the Fifth District Court of Appeals take priority over all personal transcript requests; for this reason, the length of time it takes to prepare your transcript may depend upon the availability of the reporter.
- Cases reported by Electronic Recording (ER): These cases are produced by a transcriber who should contact you within five (5) court days of your request.

How to Request a Transcript
|
To request a transcript, do one of the following:
- Fill out the online transcript request form links to a new page
- Visit the court where the case was heard and fill out a hard copy of the transcript request form.
If you feel your request is urgent please indicate this in the "Reason for Request" box of the form.
Once your request is received, if you have provided all of the necessary information on the transcript request form, the reporter or transcriber or the Court will e-mail or telephone you within five (5) court days with an estimate of the cost and to discuss any other details necessary to produce your transcripts. PLEASE NOTE:
- If you submit your request without the court reporter's name, it will take longer as this information will be researched only as time permits; and
- If you live outside the 661 area code, the reporter or transcriber or the Court is required to call you collect.
- The party requesting the transcript will be responsible for payment and may be required to prepay the cost of the transcript or submit a deposit prior to its preparation.
If you entered the reporter's name or selected Electronic Recording and have not heard from the reporter, transcriber, or the Court within five (5) court days from the date of your request, please contact Virginia Janko at (661) 868-4919.
