Until further notice, all DCSS matters may be held telephonically. This applies only to matters involving DCSS. All parties shall provide, at least 1 day prior to the scheduled hearing, their contact information to this email address DCSSCalendaring@kern.courts.ca.gov. Family Court Services Mediation
Orientation to Family Law Mediation
Family Code Section 3044
During this time of limited physical interaction, Family Court Services will conduct mediation via telephone. For parties with previously scheduled mediation appointments, please contact Family Court Services at (661) 868-4530 and provide your contact information.

During the Pandemic, Family Court Services has established some temporary changes to investigation practices in order to keep the public and staff safe. The office is closed to the public, which means FCS is not accepting members of the public inside the office. Like mediations, investigation interviews are being held via telephone or video conference. Investigators are not conducting home visits for the purposes of evaluating the conditions of the home. The investigators will use discretion in conducting curbside visits in front of the parties’ homes for the purposes of meeting and assessing the safety of the minors. Each investigator uses discretion as to which medium they will use to assess a home or verify the safety of a minor or dependent adult. If you have a pending investigation, the investigator will contact you and make arrangements with you.
